It is perfectly legal and there are plenty of programs out there, If you email the make of phone I wlll mail the correct software to you.

I think you mean a "barred " phone not one locked to another network. They are normally barred for a reason, such as being stolen, therefore you will find it difficult if not impossible to unbar it. I believe barred phones can be used abroad but not in uk. Several people have sold phones like this on ebay so I reckon if there was a way round it they would have found it. The only hope you have is to contact your service provider & ask them. If you can type #060# this should give you the IMEI number which you would need to unblock as this is the serial number they use to block in first place. Hope this helps

Out of interest, why do you want to know? Usually a phone is barred for a reason i.e. it being stolen/to prevent more money being used on it than allowed.

If it is a nokia, there is lots of free software available on the web.

However, the safest way is simply to phone your network provider. They are obliged to provide this code, although they may want to charge you. Try explaining to them why you want to move networks and they are usually quite understanding.

you can unlock the phone at any sort of dodgy phone shop, but you can't unlock the SIM

if ur in southend there is a shop run by a nice asian guy he will unlock it for about a tenner...its on the high street

In the UK such a thing is illegal. It can only be done by alerting the IEMI number and to change it is illegal. Not many people will risk doing such a thing
