Unfortunately some are and some aren't. A word of advice....do your research first. There are ruthless sellers out there who sell fake designer bags, clothes and accessories for their own gains. Ebay try to clamp down on as many as they can - but it's difficult as there are so many. You should always check out the feedback of sellers and if you have any queries contact them. If they are selling genuine items, they should be more than happy to supply you with additional photos and information.

Pay by Paypal and then you have some confirmation of your purchase. Sadly there are also buyers who are happy to buy cheap fakes and leave positive feedback as they cannot afford the genuine article or in some instances simply don't know the difference between fake and authentic.

You can read the following books...'Knockoff: The deadly trade in counterfeit' by Tim Phillios (Kogan Page Ltd) and 'The fake factor: Why we love brands but buy fakes' by Sarah McCartney (Cyan books)....you won't want to own a fake after reading these.

For authentic designer items you can visit the following ebay shop as they guarantee all their items authentic. I have bought authentic Versace and Ralph Lauren from them before and have been more than delighted with my purchases. Check out their feedback for positive customer service. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/INTER-VOGUE

I know one thing.... I was going to sell a fake burberry purse on ebay and call it authentic and make it so there was a burberry "authenticity" tag in the picture.... not gonna lie I was going to do it... but couldn't quite figure out how to get the ebay account set up.

If it's usually priced at 2000$, then you're not going to get an aunthentic one for 50

Yes, ebay is quite strict on trademarks and copyrights nowadays.

I put an item on ebay that said it was "like" a designer make, and it got removed. But if you do buy one and find that it is fake, ebay are quite good at sorting your problems out.

More information can be found on the ebay site itself - they have a policy they call VeRo that deals with this - go to ebay help and search for Vero

You cant always trust things on ebay that say authentic or vintage Ive seen items described that way and known for a fact they are not those are just keywords to hook a buyer.

Yes, but there may be some that are not, ther is still a bit of spam going on. If you are to buy anything, contact the seller and make sure by **requesting pay on delivery of goods, so you can see the product first then decide.

**Would say this is a new policy

Sometimes - mostly cheap knockoffs. In Thailand you can buy authentic looking Luis Vitton, complete with label for 300baht ($10) but they are cheap copies. Also other brands.

You never really know if its a seller descrition. Besides a designer handbag is made probalby in a sweatshop for like fifty cents then they sell it to you for a hundred dollars. You'd have to be a sucker to get one at full price.

most designer bags have a certian symbol on them, like the Gucci slippers...if looked at very close...you will see the G weaved into the fabric...such detail is taken, a knock off couldn't do it.call a bag store...Prada, Gucci, and ask them what to look for in the bags...they will be happy to tell you. then you can ask the seller if those marks or trades are ont he bags.
