I personally am a big fan of Samurai movies, and of course the classic movie in this genre is "The Seven Samurai." This theme has been ripped off by hollywood since, with movies like "The Magnificent Seven." Because of the great filming, and the excellent plot, I would say this is my favorite.
There are tons of others in this genre as well including "Samurai Assassin", "Shogun's samurai", and "Zatoichi."
Other than that, I also am quite into some of the Martial Art and Chinese fantasy movies, such as "House of Flying Daggers", "Hero", "Ong Bak", and of course Jet Li's "Fearless."
I've seen some others, not in the Martial Arts/Samurai genre which were excellent. "Amores Perros" is quite good, as is "Run, Lola, Run."

ooh im into scary foreign movies.
"high tension" is a really good french movie, very gruesome and gory, but the plot was amazing.
"tale of two sisters" is a japanese (or korean?) movie, it caught me off gaurd.
"fearless" and "hero" were also good movies too, starring jet li (not the scary kind of movies..!!)
"crouching tiger, hidden dragon" "iron monkey" and "house of flying daggers" were very good action/drama movies
"kung fu hustle" was honestly a really funny japanese movie..!!
the "ringu" trilogy, the japanese version of the ring, makes more sense than our version, actually has meaning, and is very interesting.
there are many more ive seen, i just dont remember the titles =/

French - Amelie is really good but its weird and I think you either love it or you hate it
Spanish - Y tú mama también is absolutely brilliant but its quite adult so only watch if you don't mind sex scenes.

Dolls. It is a Japanese movie. Sort of sad, and a bit bizarre. Several stories in one.
