I had never thought of it like that but in a way, yes. You feel bad for someone and in doing so you pity them for having to go through something. Good question.

Compassion is when you really feel for someone. Like if your close friend loses a loved one, if in your heart you feel an extreme ache like they would, that is compassion. Compassion is putting yourself in someone else's shoes. Pity is feeling sorry for someone who has put themselves in a bad position by their own personal choices.

No. Compassion is born out of love, pity is born from emotional experience.

In my personal opinion ... No ...
Compassion comes out of purity of the heart, from the sub-conscience & pity, well that comes from the mind after comprehending the situation ...

It depends... You could show compassion towards someone to try and get them to do something for you, which isn't pitying... But it generally is

They are different. Compassion is expressed toward a person who suffered irreperable loss. Pity is expressed toward person who cannot solve his own problem person who needs a help by which he can solve the problem. I believe that asking for a pity is a person's laziness to take care about themselves. In civil society if you need a help there are institutions where to get it. Asking for a pity is realy using and abusing others and shouldn't be honoured. Compassion is different since it is directed toward the person in grief who suffered irreperable loss and whom nobody can help.

Maybe- but there's nothing wrong with pity, either, if it's sincere. Compassion goes pretty deep, though...
(Is this a song I don't know?) :)

to show kindness how be it a form of pity....to help one another who is misfortuiante or needs just a shoulder is a passion that comes within....takes no religion to show compassion...takes no religion to show passion either...
