actually, there is a part of our brain situated somewhere between the cerebrum and cerebellum that stores information. Our memory is then further divided into 3 categories. The one that is easier to recall is the information stored in the "conscious mind". This is the largest part of our memories. These are the things we want to remember and make it a point to remember. This is what you might call useful info.

As I mentioned before, the memories are in 3 categories. The other 2 are "sub-conscious" which basically include everything that we see, do, hear that we might tend to "forget" easily as to us it might be unimportant or not worth remembering. But this is also stored. You might call this useless info.

Then we have the "unconscious" mind which is primarily responsible for dreams.

Hope your questions are answered with factual reasonings :)

I think that we underestimate the maximum memory capacity of the human brain. I think that to be saturated in information, our brain would have to have consumed so much information in too little time to grow and absorb it all. As long as we learn at a steady spead, we can continue to learn an infinite amount of knowlegde, I think.

My brain is a mine field of useless information. Developed during a childhood spent watching quizshows with my mum. I'm not complaining, I kick serious butt in pub quizzes :o)
