ether's are organic compounds containing DI valent oxygen in their molecule .they are considered to be derivatives of water ,alcohol and alkane ether's are represented by a general formula R-O-R' where R and R' are two same or different alkyl groups but they are never a hydrogen atom in case of ether's .
they are classified into TWO groups 1 simple ether or symmetrical ether 2 mixed ether or unsymmetrical ether if an ether contains both the alkyl groups same then such a ether is called as simple ether if the ether contains different alkyl groups than the ether is called mixed ether
EXAMPLES 1 - CH3-O-CH3 ; DI METHYL ETHER
2 - CH3-O-C2H5 ETHYL METHLY ETHER

Ethers are the organic compounds of general formula R-O-R', where R & R' are same or different alkyl group. Functional group is C-O-C.These compounds contain an oxygen atom linked to two carbon atoms.
It is of two types: 1) simple ether ; if R=R'
2) mixed ether ; if Ris not equal to R'
In common names, the smaller alkyl group comes first.
In IUPAC names ethers are considers as alkoxy (RO-) derivatives of alkanes.
Prefix= Methoxy(-OCH3), Ethoxy(-OC2H5) and so on for C1, C2, ......respectively.
Suffix= Methane , Ethane and so on for C1,C2....... respectively.
For naming mixed eters the oxy group is attached with the alkyl group which contains less number of carbon atoms.
For example:
CH3-O-CH3 common name: Dimethyl ether (simple)
IUPAC name: Methoxymethane
CH3-CH2-O-CH3 common name: Methyl ethyl ether (mixed)
IUPAC name: Methoxyethane

Ethers are very inert chemicals with the general formula ROR. Thus they consist of two alkyl (or aryl) groups joined by an oxygen bridge.
They are resistant to nucleophilic attack due to the poor leaving group quality of the RO- group.

Ethers are a class of organic compounds having the functional group -O-. they are classified as symmetric and assymetric.
symmetric ethers are of form R-O-R .
unsymmetrical ethers have two different alkyl gropus, that is R-O-R'.
