Exhibitionism is the psychological desire to be seen while in the nude. It comes from a deeper sense of a need for approval. Often exhibitionists feel neglected or insecure. They get both a sexual arousal by appearing naked and a gratification that they are desired, but without the actual human contact which can make them nervous. Many exhibitionists are nude models in art schools, but others create moments when they can undress in public (nude beaches, etc). A few become unbalanced and become "flashers".
