First, what do you want to see or do? How much is your budget?
Japan is definetly expensive. It is one of the most expensive countries in the world. It is also very advanced and modern where you can find the latest electronic gadgets, some of which have not yet reached the US. Most people do not speak English so you probably would have some difficulty communicating. Since they are in the northern most part of the world, they have 4 seasons. Alot to see in Japan interms of culture, festivals and historical sites.
Philippines on the other hand is cheaper. It is a developing country like that of Thailand and India. English is widely spoken throughout the country. As a tropical country, expect warm weather all year long (30 degrees c) and humidity. Beaches abound and the Philippines has several excellent diving spots in Southeast Asia. Culturally speaking, the Philippines is a mix of Western and Asian cultures.

I would NOT think of you as a man with a lot to offer. You live with mom and dad, have not taken on the financial obligations of life as you don't even pay rent, and have no real life experience. You don't feel competent to handle work, school, and a relationship at the same time. You are afraid to put yourself out there for a relationship and so you make excuses not to. Now you want to wait until you are 30 and everything is settled? What will be your excuse when you turn 30?

Phillipines is the place to go, if your a single guy. The people are friendly and the women too. In the Phillipines you will get more bang for your buck, then you would in japan.

Japan is sooo advance, innovative, modern, everything expensive, very clean, etc. Japanese have a hard time communicating in english. Japan's like the future when it comes to technologies! indoor beach, human robot, walking whatever they can think of.
Philippines is a 3rd world country but shopping is better, you can buy a decent shirt for 2 USD, people are more cheerful, more friendly, hospitable, and speak english better.
If you're coming from the US, i would say, Philippines =) everything different. everything shocking hehe... no human robot though.

philipines is the best one in compare to japan, normaly japan was the language problem as well as cost is high. all price and mone value is very high to compare in japan. also know the purpus of the visit. japan have most valuable in entertainment. but phillipines is not like that. so all ways compare both phillipines is best. one more think india also very good place to visit.

If for girls (pinay) or gays, then the Philippines. They are use to Americans and friendlier and most speak English. For shopping too. Recommend you look up Mactaan Island off of Cebu. Beach resorts there, casinos and near Cebu airport. Cebu 2nd largest city. Watch you wallet, cell phone and camera as many steal to survive, too many people for the economy. Don't travel alone if you can find a guide you can trust. There are many lady boys
( transvestites) that will surely fool you.

The Philipines! Easier to get on with the people/customs, not a great language problem,far cheaper than Japan and better looking girls.
