I think the medical people use this rule of thumb because many women would be unable to pinpoint the probable moment of conception. As your pregnancy progresses your doctor or midwife should be able to confirm or change your due date, but as so many folks have already said, babies come when they feel like it, and it's impossible to do more than guess roughly when they will arrive. Good luck!

It is usually calculate from the FIRST day of your last period but if your irregular thats not the best way to get the correct due date. If the 20th was the date you conceived and its likely to be if it was the only date u had sex. Your due date would be around the 10th feb........(you can have a period and be pregnant) Do you remember the first day of your period before the one on the 1st.
Anyway, I conceived about the 27th May and Im due on the 16th Feb, so I would think you would be a week ahead of me. (if u where preggers b4 that period) There are due date calculators on the net that you can put your conception and period dates in and will give you a Estimated date of delivery.
If you conceived on the 10th your EDD is about the 3rd march, if you have had ultrasounds they would have given u a EDD too.

They are both the same amount of time. you are pregnant for 9 full months, which means when you hit your due date and anyday after you are in your 10th month. judging from your due date you should have had your pd at the end of may and you probaly got pregnant on the june 10th date that you have above. It is a confusing thing. I have 4 children and sometimes I still get lost. Hope this helps!!

You Can still have periods after conception so nothing can be set in stone. Best way to work it out is take 3 months off and add one week on to the date of the first day of your last period. for example my son arrived exactly as due - my last period started on 8 Oct and he arrived on 15 Jul the next year

Your due date is the day before mine. I am due on the 1st march. The first day of my last period was 25th May. Yours would ave been 24th May. Remember this is only EDD,(Estimated due date) when I was pregnant with my first daughter my due date was 12th November and I delivered on 30th October. It's said be ready for birth 2weeks either side of the EDD.
Good luck xx

Conception = when the egg/sperm hook up, usually occurs about 14 days after the 1st day of your last period.
So, if your last day of your last period was June 1, then the 1st day of your last period was a few days before that. and you conceived on June 10th. (which is about 14 days after the 1st day of your last period)
due dates are only an estimate b/c different women release their eggs on different days. and day 14 is only an estimate/average of when most women release their eggs.
Many women deliver "early" and many deliver "late" because of this error in estimation and other factors - such as health, etc.

Daisy was due on Thanksgiving. She was born on Halloween. Her dad is largely to blame...the baby will come when the baby is ready. Get an ultrasound if you have the insurance, otherwise, give two weeks either way. Are you concerned for health reason? Just know that there is no "rule" for time unless your doc say's otherwise. Congratulations! Name her Brandy~!
