It's time to speak out against poor quality journalism. I refer to the latest Britney Spears incident, where she was photographed getting into a car, and snapped wearing no underwear. The fact is that the media spent many years sexualising a young girl, via sexy videos, and incessant prying into her growing womanhood, complete with speculations about her virginity. Now, when she is a sexual WOMAN, she is lampooned. Utter hypocrisy.
I know that journalists will argue that they are giving the public what it wants. Rubbish! The public can't help being bitten by morbid curiosity when these things are published, but that doesn't mean we should be provided with such images. As for 'freedom of the press'... you guys have the freedom to investigate REAL issues. Personally I don't care if Britney wears knickers or not. I don't consider it to be any of my business. Come on, journalists, stop going for the low and easy, and have some pride!

Media cannot be hypocritical, and your question reveals part of the problem. The words ‘media’ and ‘journalism’ do not even represent the same ‘class’ of things, yet they get used interchangeably, as do reporting and entertainment.
It is like the stupid phrase ‘war on terror’. Terror is a tactic, and you cannot have a war against a tactic – well, I guess you can, but it just means that you do not know what you are doing and you end up failing and in a big mess – just like Afghanistan and Iraq, where the administration never had a plan, or knew what to do, because they were trying to fight a war against a non-physical enemy that does not even have a home country, let alone an army.
And, the issue is not Britney Spears underwear. The issue is using her name and the word ‘music’ in the same sentence, as if one has something to do with the other. Any society that confounds Britney Spears with BB King, Iranians with Arabs, Hussein with 9/11, war with terror, creation mythology with science, fascism with theocracy, FOX news with journalism, and Christianity with the US Constitution is too stupid to even comprehend hypocrisy – let alone knowingly be hypocritical – because knowledge and truth do not exist in their world.
America’s Founding Fathers feared that the country they created would ultimately be destroyed when people elected politicians even more stupid, greedy, and selfish than themselves. George Bush and religiously conservative republicans might represent this nation’s anti-Christ that those who created America were worried about.

Actually, Britney sexualised herself. It was her idea to dress in a skimpy school uniform in the video for "Hit Me Baby One More Time." That was her first big hit and it introduced her to the world as this sex bomb teen tartlet.
Britney does seem to have lost all respect for herself, especially after going on about keeping her virginity until she was married and talking about Jesus when she was shagging like a rabbit in reality.
The photographers did go too far by photographing Britney's naughty bits, but if she's going to wear no knickers and put it on display for the world, she deserves all she gets. She should be home with her kids instead of going commando and partying.

Most of us do have some pride, but what you have to realise is that newpapers and magazines are big business and it is our aim to sell as many as possible to the people whatever the content, and yes the public do have a right to know and see what is happening around them, and the aim is always to beat the competition. Personally my newspaper wouldn't touch a picture of Britney Spears dressed let alone undressed, but if we did use nude pictures I could guarantee sales figures would more than double in a week, and that is where our pride comes in. Only cheap tacky magazines and daily nationals would run such rubbish.

i will see your factor! hardship is, even nonetheless we've it noted to us how unreliable and downright cheating the click is, many people nonetheless fall below it quite is spell and take heavily what we are instructed! it quite is worth attempting to recollect that the papers use drama, sensation and worry to hawk their rags and we, being of course curious and services to irritating, actually purchase into it. As for the hypocrisy you communicate over with, I fairly agree! how in the international can usa stockpile an arsenal of devastating nuclear weapons and then tell Iran that it can't do the comparable?! What united states of america in it quite is right ideas does not opt to enhance their own weapons for, such as you're saying, bargaining. the justifications why something of the international does not choose them to enhance weapons is going without saying, in spite of the shown fact that it quite is hypocrisy nonetheless. I do think of it quite is time the click took greater duty for what - and how - they record. Blatant scaremongering, manipulation and dishonesty must be punishable, and all info and components must be previous question. as though!

Paparazzi taking snaps of Britney's vadge has absolutely nothing to do with journalism. It's not news, it's vacuous gossip.

Real, true hard news and entertainment news are as different as Sweden is from Tunisia. I always heard that entertainment reporters aren't real reporters as well, and I believe that. If they were, they'd be writing hard news stories instead!
