All things with mass have gravity. Therefore, the earth cannot "lose" it's gravity. The effects of gravity can seem to be lost ( for instance during space flight ). But even then the gravity of the earth is drawing the earth and the astronauts together. During these moments the motion of the space shuttle / astronaut is so fast around the earth that it cancels out the pull of gravity, thus creating the illusion that 'there is no gravity'. In fact however the earth is still exerting a gravitational pull on the shuttle and its occupants.

Since the Earth has mass, it has gravity. If the Earth didn't have gravity, it wouldn't be here. Ignore the person who says that the rotation causes us to stay on Earth. That is centrifugal force. That is like swinging a bucket of water over your head and it stays in the bucket due to an outward motion.

Our planet cannot lose its gravitational field apart from our planet being completely destroyed. The force causing a gravitational field is that of the heat energy contained within it. This concept is described in the physics trilogy, E = mc2, m = E/c2, and c2 = E/m. The last is that of a gravitational field. Notice that when either the mass or energy values change so does the "c2" value. There would have to be a cessation of either mass or energy in order for a gravitational field to cease existing.

If a large asteroid / comet, say the size of Texas, slammed into the Earth at 200,000 miles per hour, you would definately notice the cessation of gravity. Only for about 5 seconds though - then you and everyone else would be dead.

Earth's gravity is combined with the rotation of the earth. Since the earth is spinning all the time, it keeps us on earth.

If gravity would suddenly let go, the Earth would stop spinning. And what would happen is, the last thing we would see is space. Everything would fly.

Okay, picture yourself on a fast merry go round. Someone suddenly stops it, what happens? You fly off. That is what would happen if gravity let go of its hold on earth. We would be flying at thousands maybe millions of miles into outer space, and we would all be dead.

really depends on how long this moment is , it would loose its gravity if there was a giant volcanic erruption in which case we'd all be dea anyway and wouldnt matter or if the sun dies out

Gravity does not switch on and off under any circumstances so the question is flawed.
