Sometimes, yes. Pain is the greatest teacher. Other times it keeps us from being able to learn. So it would depend upon the situation.

i dont know about it being the BEST way to learn a lesson. but suffering pain 24/7 is a very humbling experience

experience (good or bad) is the best teacher, the willingness to learn, how open you are to change, these factors contribute how you learn your lesson.
for me... pain teaches me to be stronger. i dont really learn from it 100%. i guess it varies...
