If you are living in a culture where it is the custom for parents to make important decisions for their children (like vocation, career, arranged marriage), it will be very difficult to go against this way of thinking, but you can try to resist. You might see if there are groups of people who think like you do to support you in this.
If you live in a western culture, then it will be easier to do what you want, against your parents wishes, just be prepared for whatever consequences there may be (like them stopping support, not putting you through college, etc.)
Bottom line though, you can't change how your parents think, just how you respond to it, and what you do yourself.

You sound young and sometimes parents are only trying to do what is best for you. You may decide your course of action but my suggestion is that you hear them out and tell them that you appreciate their input and you will consider what they have suggested and thank you for their advise. Tell them things like"Yes that sounds good!" but dont comment andy further. Just listen to good advise too. Parents are not stupid even though when we are young we think they know nothing, but remember they are parents and have been around longer than you and learnt many things in the process. Once you are 21 you can decide for yourself what you want to do. Forget feelings and look hard at reality. Feelings and emotions get one into big big trouble. Respect Mom and Dad. They only care what happens to you. There are lots of kids whose parents dont give a damn and leave them to their own devises with bad consequences in a lot of cases. Be thankful and grateful and content. Every time has a season. At the right time, you will know what to do.
DOnt write mom and dad off!!

Always be considerate of what your parents opinions are, after all, they could not have screwed up too badly if you are alive, and still have choices in life. Everyone would like to be independent, but you will find that no one is really independent, and I'd feel sorry for them if they were. You sound like your young enough to learn from a mistake or two, just don't make the mistake of black listing your parents, you may live to regret it.

depends on your age. if your younger than 18 then you'll just have to try and change their minds verbally. once your 18 you can try and get custody over yourself. meaning that you mnake your own decisions. but i dont recommend that. typically 89 % of young adults who do this end up in trouble or afterwards there parrents wont support them nearly as much.

Are your parents paying your light bill and tuition? If you don't want your parents authority and benefits then you must move out from under their authority but then you cease to have their benefits. If this is a decision on what you will be vocation wise have a guidance counselor from school talk to your parents about what you want to do and what you are good at.

You are an adult. It's up to you to put your foot down and for them to understand this. Of course, they may disown you or try to hold something over your head, but that is just your cue to follow your heart and because more independent. But also, it is important to make sure you are making a wise, and not spare of the moment, decision.

I suspect you are about 12 - 13 years old by the way you have composed this. Your parents can make and should make major decisions for you until you are old enough at 18 y.o to do it for yourself.
If it has to do with dating....forget it....you won't change their way of thinking.

Dear Les, it is important that you should understand one thing. In my opinion, NO other people care for and love you more than your parents. They want what's best for you. However, if you want to change the way your parents think about you, talk to them, ask them to explain how they feel towards you, try to win their trust and love, and listen to them.

Ummm . . . we can't tell what the problem is from just that. You have to tell us what EXACTLY your parents are telling you to do. It might surprise you, but they have your best interests at heart and they usually know a hell of a lot more than you do about living in general. Good night!

SIT DOWN WITH THEM AND HAVE A HEART TO HEART TALK. TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE AND APPRECIATE ALL THAT THEY HAVE DONE AND STILL DO FOR YOU, AND THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS TAKE THERE ADVICE TO HEART, BUT THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS IN LIFE. TELL THEM TO GIVE YOU THE CHANCE TO PROVE YOURSELF. LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO YOU, AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO! THEY ARE YOUR PARENTS AND THEY LOVE YOU, JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND, AND KEEP THE CONVERSATION MATURE, DON'T GET ANGRY IF AT FIRST THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY, JUST KEEP TALKING TO THEM IN AN ADULT MATTER AND THEY WILL REALIZE THAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF MAKING YOUR OWN DECISIONS. AND SOMETIMES IT IS GOOD TO TAKE YOUR PARENTS ADVICE, THEY MOST LIKELY HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT! GOOD LUCK!
