Max Headroom was a character in the British television show of the same name. In the story, the character was computer generated. But the show was made back in the eighties, when the technology was pretty basic. So they got the actor, Matt Frewer, to put on all this prosthetic facial rubber. Then they shot it on video and put that through filters, so that it ended up looking as if it could have been computer generated.
So, technically, the character was computer generated, just like Superman can fly, or Jeannie lives in a bottle.
It would be interesting to watch this show now. It's always funny to see things that are set in the future, from the perspective of the future. (You know what I mean.) I don't think it would hold up against Lost In Space or Star Trek. Those shows were camp. Max Headroom was just cheesy.

Have no idea!
But the real Max Headroom was the first person to be decapitated inside a London Transport Double Decker Bus. It was trying to get under the bridge at West Drayton Station when only single deckers were allowed on that route.......
Or so the legend goes.....!!!

23 minutes into the future, the world has become imbued network-television. It's illegal to turn off your tv, and televisions are given to the needy. In this world, Network 23 has a highly-rated news program with a roving reporter named Edison Carter. But Carter gets caught in an experiment to create a computer-generated personality, and "Max Headroom" is born. Together, Max and Edison, along with Edison's controller (Theora), their boss (Murray), their boss' boss (Ben Cheviot), and Network 23's boy-genius (Bryce) combat crime, placate sponsors, defeat rival networks, and turn in stories. 14 episodes.

I always remember M/H as a computer generated humanoid who introduced and hosted a semi-film/children's programme when channel 4 first started up, and despite the derogatory remarks above, WAS computer generated in this instance.

He was a computer generated spokesperson for Cinemax and eventually Coke. He gained popularity much like Spuds McKenzie did.
