Have you, perchance, got headlamp washers? (You should see something like a washer nozzle next to the light). That can give that impression - its just the water squirting over the lamp.

Hope that's it, otherwise you might have an electrical fault.

I have a Peugeot 406 (Y reg) and thought that I had the same problem. I got my son to operate the wipers and saw that at the same time that he sprayed the windscreen another spray popped up and sprayed the lights giving the impression that the headlights were dimming!

Sounds like you have a bad grounding issue with your electrics under the hood.
That little "Scoosh" (love your terminology) motor should not draw enough electricity to cause the headlights to dim. But if there is a bad ground or someone wired that motor to take power off the lights it can cause that.

Have a reliable technician that is good with electrical problems look at that.

it can happen if the battery is low or the wiring is bad or the pump old or on the fritz. turning on the wash turns on a motor that takes up part of the current that goes to the lights, but its not supposed to be noticeable.

bet you have headlight washers which work at the same time as your windscreen washers! foam on headlights blocks light momentarily.

Is your car equipped with headlamp washer jets? If it is, they come on automatically if you scoosh when the headlamps are on.
