Roads in Zimbabwe wouldn't be a problem, but getting patrol is a problem. With the government they have the country is going down the last few years.
I wouldn't recommend you to travel through Namibia without knowing the country. It's easy to get lost in the dessert and die without water.

How I know. Because I worked a few years as a tour leader in those country's. And because the road signs are not good in Namibia if you take the 'country site' and often don't are the same as on the map, its easy to get lost. And there are a lot of areas in Namibia were no one is going. So if you break down in a area like that the change that you survive is not big. Most of Namibia cell phones don't work. There not so many people living in Namibia so there a big areas were no people are at all.

If you insist of going through Namibia make sure that someone knows your plans. (like the people you rent your car) So if you don't arrive in a certain time they know in which direction you went. Always take liters of extra water, just in case. But it's better to travel in country's like that with someone who knows the country.
