Hey Fairmaiden,
This site usually is pretty good. They have Carl and a bunch of his work but not this one. There are libraries where you can find a book of his poems too. Sorry, could not find.

In many ways, it is a look at the dual nature of the United States. On the one hand, a land of plenty and industry: "HOG Butcher for the World, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler; Stormy, husky, brawling, City of the Big Shoulders:" On the other, "wicked" and "crooked" and "brutal" as an indictment of how capitalist society creates crime and suffering (Sandburg had some Socialist leanings). But, Sandburg looks beyond that, to what the city could be... "Bareheaded, Shoveling, Wrecking, Planning, Building, breaking, rebuilding..." In short, constantly remaking itself through work, through labor.
