It is a nice name, The history is what makes me like it. I personally would name him Dillon Richard... (I can't imagine a little boy named Richard)

If you want to spice it up, you could combine the two and modify it.
For example: Richard+Dillan= Rillan-- Modify to Riley. Just an idea!
But nice name (esp. because of the history).

That is a classy and elegant name. Your reasons for choosing those names make it even more special.
You do want to think of whether you would give him a nickname or how you might feel if he chose to use one on his own later on in life. You won't have to worry about differentiating, but sometimes kids do just pick them up on their own. My friend's boy William recently decided he is Bill now, a name she doesn't like!

The name sounds good the way its written, but what happens when the kid starts getting called Dick Dillon??? And make sure you can live with Dick ___(your lastname)___ too! eg, I hope your last name isn't 'Cole'. (I think Richard is a dangerous name...)
:-}
