Since no one has said it yet:
Brasil.

Brasil was embarrassed last cup and will be looking to make up for their errors with a big show in Africa. Not to mention that their style of football is highly-regarded in Africa and heavily-copied by many African sides.

I agree with the previous poster that an African team will make it to the semis at least. Momentum from the home-field advantage can be huge... not to mention refs inexplicably calling back goals in favour of the home side (Korea-Japan Cup).

South africa
1 Usually the host /countries from same continent as host win the world cup /play in cup final/.
2football is number one sport in south africa so everybody there will be behind them wich will boost their moral even against the mighty Brazil
3climate : in some places in south frica is hot and humid no matter is winter /summer
4At the moment they have good skillful and youthful squad that can turn things around eg,Steven pinaar for Borussiadotmund,Mkhanyiseli siwahla for Ajax ,Zuma Ameniabeefield in germany,Bennie Mcarthy for blackburn to mention few of them
5 they have a new coach from Brazil Carlos Pereira who won worldcup with brazil in 1994 so he knows what you are talking about if you say we want to win world cup.
6 it is difficult to beat host country in friendly match how much more in such big event where everybody will be backing them
7World cup has never been played in Africa before we have never seen true potentials of an African team as it hasbeen staged in other continents so there will be no fear to them.

I'll be original too and say Argentina, the unluckiest team in this year's World Cup. The heat won't bother them and they haven't missed a tournament since 1970. In terms of current rankings,Brazil remain top, followed by Italy, Argentina and France. England are still in 5th. Argentina beat top-ranked Brazil 3-0 in August. Apart from France how many teams have done that?!

Underdog surprises - Ghana(the international Cup is in South Africa,so anticipate some thing from the African communities) enable downs - Italy(they're going to get uncovered finally and crash out of the international Cup,hahaha) end with the trophy - England(that is time we received it,this time with Capello)

I think we can look for some surprises. Don't forget the tournament is in Africa, where business is done in ways which are very "different". In other words, we will see an African team in the semi finals at least.

I think the team to watch will be Angola, judging by their performance in the last World Cup. The'yre the best team in Africa by a mile.

As for who will win it? , why a European team of course. but it will be a thrilling final.

brazil- i know that they had a farcical world cup this year in 2006 but come 4 years time, they will come back stronger. yes they will not have cafu, roberto carlos and ze roberto in their ranks but as long as ronaldinho is hitting form, they'd still have what it takes to win it. not forgetting adriano, kaka who will be 28 and robiniho and a couple of startlets in the youth team who have potential, flair, skill. for me, the reason why they lost the world cup was because apart from ronaldo, none of their forwards managed to get forward enough and get enough shots on target. i'm sure they will bounce back from this and get back to winning ways, courtesy of their coach dunga. he's seen and done it all as a player and his experience and knowledge is crucial to the future success of the brazilian national squad

One of the African nations, for sure. They've been improving year after year and, with a bit of organisation from a good coach, one of them will be the finished article.
