i've been dying to say this to someone, but both katie couric and the other female are lousy achors. katie sounds like she is speaking at a funeral, while the other woman sounds like she is going to burst into tears any minute. in the uae (dubai), i listen to abc news in the morning around 8.30 am, while it is night for the abc anchors, that may be the reason, but there's no reason to sound so mournful.

Meredith is not a news anchor. She is a talk show host.
Katie is perky and cheerful and obnoxious as hell. She has no real journalism experience and has not earned Dan Rather's seat.
The best anchor on the big 3 right now is Brian Williams, hands down, but god do I miss Peter Jennings ...

Neither are actual anchors. And why can't they hire a decent contralto with good delivery? I don't think all the audio processing in the world could help either of them if they were in radio.
And whoever it was who said "the other female" above----Although I don't like either one, that's disrespectful to ME as a female who is also a news anchor.

i dont know. but what i do know is that i dont feel as if there is anything missing when i watch the today show now.
with that said, katie couric seems to be replaceable.

niether. they arent anchors- they read the news. they do no investigative work, no real production. they just read the prompter, and interview people with a set script to follow.
