I mean he hit the guy and then backed up like a punk so he gets no respect for that

No. 15 is a lot. 15 is enough to ruin a team's season. Luckily they could go get Iverson...a sissy punch deserved 15 at most....no more.

You can't blame any of these guys, They are bred from the day they pick up the ball to be hyper-competitive. Then on top of that, lip readers say Thomas warned carmelo not to take the ball in the lane, making it very likely he instructed his player to foul. A guy was run out of the NCAA for that wasnt he? but Thomas will get in no trouble because this is the Pros stuff like this happens in football several times a week. It is a shame that it has to happen but it's bound to happen once a year, at least this kind of fight...its a shame when the crowd thinks they need to be involved like those pathetic drunk losers in detroit...anyways, 15 games as is mentioned, enough to effectively make or break a season Not to mention the fact that he will undoubtably "donate" to charity because the league "suggests" it, that and I really feel he's sorry, how many other athletes apologize for embarassing their mothers when something like this happens, that wasnt just a team mandated apology. Oh and not to mention the hit to the wallet..by not playing in those 15 games 'Melo loses about 700,000 dollars. So yea, id say that was enough. Unlike last time when alot of the players got away with a slap on the wrist and a "no-no" while Artest got the brunt, stern got all the players the right amount this time

Ask Ron Artest(or maybe better,Kermit Washington).Carmelo Anthony is one of the "stars" of the NBA and as such gets more preferential treatment.Had he been a lesser player,he'd be playing again sometime next year.David Stern really blew this one.In situations like this one, star power should have no relevance in giving out punishments.Or maybe it should,if a star player and role model acts like Carmelo;he gets punished more severly because his actions are more detrimental to the leagues'(and the team) reputation than those of the guy at the end of the bench.I bet it would curb nearly all of the fights if they were going to lose a year and 15-20 million dollars.

I didn't like him before his punch and I HATE him now. However, 15 was a lot of games, at least statistically. I feel he should have gotten suspended for 25-30 games after what he did, but if you look at the suspensions in the past for a puch I don't think they have been over 13 and that was after a Lakers player, I forgot which one, back in the 80s or early 90s puched a coach from the opposition.

I think so, his attack was unprovoked and cowardly. Artest was wrong but he was assaulted - the fan had no right to hit with a projectile. Carmelo acted like a thug, hitting and running, Come On, shows that Artest's punishment had more to do with his rep than his actions.

i believe 15 wasnt enough. he should have atleast gotten a 30 game suspension. i would have preffered him getting suspended for the remaining of the year w/out pay.

and if you think about it, he made the brawl worse because everything was starting to calm down, and then he had to punch collins to start the brawl all over again.

p.s. - just so u know.....im not a big fan of his anyways.

The backing up is his own embarassment, that did not hurt the guy, so I think 15 games is just about right for punching another player.

I think he should've gotten a suspension for the rest of the year. That was uncalled for.

He should have gotten no more than 10 games.

15 games is plenty. Collins got what he deserved. If you want to give cheap, dirty fouls...expect consequences.
