MP3 files vary in size due to two main factors (though I'm not an audio guy so I don't know that much about how they're coded):
1 -- The length of the audio file
2 -- The bitrate of the song file
Obviously you don't want to change the length of the file. As far as the bitrate goes, however, you can change that. How did you obtain the file? If you recorded it yourself, there should be options in whatever recording program you used to save it at a certain bitrate. 320 KBPS is considered CD Quality. If you bring it down to 128 KBPS, it should cut the file size by a lot. If you ripped the track from a CD, the program you used to import the song should have options somewhere for bitrate. Last, if you just got the song from somewhere and you can't access the original, there are programs out there that convert bitrate. I know for a fact that Musicmatch Jukebox lets you do it, and I'm pretty sure if you google "convert bitrate" you'll find something useful.
Good luck!

The only way you can reduce the size is by lowering the bitrate.
Programs like this one will do that, however, I doubt you can get it under 5 MB :

You may also try splitting the file into smaller segments (use this program) :

if you're going from 34 to 5 MB
you need to convert it from 16 kbps (isn't that the right one?)
to about 1 or 2 it seems like. You're quality will go way down, but you could probably put your song on Geocities.
try f2g.net, sometimes they have room, and they should accept 5+ MB files.

there is an uncomplicated way can help you, you could attempt RZ loose mp3 converter, that's freeware, and can convert any audios or video clips to mp3, with it you could customize the objective audio bitrate to decrease the mp3 report length. you could yahoo or google seek and get carry of it, wish it may help you.

that is one BIG MP3....must be a LOONG audio file.
The thing about MP3s is that they are already the smallest form of audio file...next to WMA. BUT, WMA is not that much smaller.

you need to re-encode it at a lower bit rate.
