I'm sure it's something very imaginitive, like:
The Shuttle to Launch Pad Transportion Vehicle
which of course they abbreviate to:
SLPTV
to sound smart. This is all conjecture though. If someone really knows the answer. Please post. I'm curious now.

The vehicle is lovingly called, "Susie Q".
You can see it painted just above the front fender on each side.
At one time it was named "Charming Willy", but that name didn't stick due to the sexist nature of Mission control.
