I cant help it, it just makes me feel really guilty when I think of loads of starving people and kids without clothes or toys and me sitting down to a turkey dinner and moaning about something stupid like the heater in my car not working properly.
Does it make you feel selfish and guilty too?

That's exactly what it's supposed to do. You probably give your "two pounds a week, just two pounds a week - please" to Oxfam, the NSPCC and Medicin sans Frontiers.
Now think on this. Sir bob the famous Irish singer recorded that track and raised lots of money (not for himself, for "the cause"). Then he reprised the whole song/theme/guilt-trip twenty years down the track - strangely, exactly one generation later in the lives of the people he was trying to help.
Which part of that lesson did the beneficiaries of the aid NOT learn? When will the guilty people with turkey dinners and cars figure out that throwing money at the problem will not solve it? Are they going to do it all again in another twenty years?
It's your money, your conscience, your choice. But I bet you've got some clothing or footwear that was made in one the "dollar-a-day" sweatshops.

No you a caring, loving and sensitive person.
I don't feel selfish or guilty, I feel bad yes, I have been there. I am not starving, but I feel bad I can not give my child the Christmas she should have. No turkey, hamburgers, fries (her favs.) and a couple of gifts......The most important thing is we have is each other and that means more than anything in this world
For those of you wondering why I have internet service but cant give my child a good Christmas AOL does a great 90 free

well it shows that you are somewhat human and we feel things just like you are feeling when u hear that song. i recommend you act on that feeling. instead of feeling guilty or selfish, just give back to your community. start small and someone out there will see your good deeds and then it will spread (hopefully). bottom line: turn a negative into a positive

You might be a sucker for Bono and U2. Bono says we need to throw money at this. And we do, and we feel good about it, about the only thing good about this billion grab by Bono, but millions more starve the next year, and the next, and the....
BONO HEADS is what I call 'em.

It just shows you are a caring human being, to think of others less fortunate than yourself. Good on you. Merry Christmas.

There nothing to be ashamed of at all. It means that you are aware of what the song is all about. Have a wonderful Christmas.

No, you are far from stupid. It just means that you are not self-absorbed and have true concern for others. Keep it up.
