remember being young and you always saw houses that had these signs saying 'block-watch' for kids?? it was for kids that needed a safe place to run to if in trouble. i have only seen one lately and miss seeing them, i am just wondering why or where all these block-watch people went to. today the world is crazy but there still should be more block-watch homes.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that some municipalities stopped the program because of legal issues, but which issues exactly I can't remember.

I remember those too - but I think there are so many families where both parents work, and the kids go to daycare after school (and before, too, sometimes) that there's hardly anyone at home to be the block watch people. I know in my street, I am the only one around most of the time; there is an elderly man living a block or so away, who walks the street from time to time, but he's about all I see beyond mailmen, trash pickup, like that.

It's was mainly a sissy liberal program, in accordance with the liberal mindset of unarmed dogooders trying to help fight crime and cure society.
