A lot of people have their priorities out of order. They put more value in money, the right job, the right home, the right vehicle, the right clothes, and how they appear to the outside world. If people would expend this kind of energy in maintaining the family and keeping the peace in the family; there probably would be less meanness.
Another theory is that some people are just full of hell and need to work on themselves. I hope this helps.
