Not actually, anyone can locate the country and state of yours if u mail them and if they talk to ur Internet Service provider (ISP) , they can even track your exact address

Even i can track the the country and state you are in, from the ip address if you mail me

Address as in your street address? Maybe, depending on how well you've hidden yourself.

Say you're "John Smith". Your e-mail address is John.Smith@blahblah.com. You e-mail someone, say, through Yahoo.

Yahoo records your IP address. That IP address, when backtracked, can often pin you down to a city, or even part of a city (through a process known as reverse DNS) then by punching your name in white pages online combined with city info it's not that hard to narrow down the candidates.

The Internet Protocol (IP) is a data-oriented protocol used for communicating data across a packet-switched internetwork.

IP is a network layer protocol in the internet protocol suite and is encapsulated in a data link layer protocol (e.g., Ethernet). As a lower layer protocol, IP provides the service of communicable unique global addressing amongst computers. This implies that the data link layer need not provide this service. Ethernet provides globally unique addresses except it is not globally communicable (i.e., two arbitrarily chosen Ethernet devices will only be able to communicate if they are on the same bus). The difference is that IP is concerned with the final destination of data packets. Ethernet is concerned with only the next device (computer, router, etc.) in the chain. The final destination and next device could be one and the same (if they are on the same bus) but the final destination could be on the other side of the world.

No. An IP will tell them who your service provider is, so they'll generally be able to know what city you live in.

Try it: go to www.checkdomain.com and plug in someone's IP address and trace it. (you can find a person's IP from their email by going to your email's options, and choosing the show-IP option. Most emails will have this).

only if they're really good hackers.

IP addresses give a person enough info to get into a computer, or at least who you are (if it is a friend who memorizes numbers)

But if you have a good anti-virus program or the such, it should have a good firewall to keep you safe. (Norton is a good one)

But don't worry, your emails don't give out too much info

with your ip address you can be located in general,
like what isp you are using,
and then the isp could give out your home adress.

with your email, depends.

for example, I use Yahoo email.
it is possible, but very unlikely that someone could track where it came from ( aside from yahoo.com)

but if I used my isp email, could could very easily.

If it were that user-friendly, there will be a lot extra thefts, rapes, murders, attacks, undesirable interest, junk mail, and many different a chance detrimental occurrences. would you want basically all of us to carry close the position you stay?
