Santa Claus is a fable, truth exaggerated. There was once a man who through gold coins down the chimneys of the poor and needy at Christmas time. The coins would sometimes fall into stockings ( as they wore back then) that were hung above the fireplace to dry.

St. Nicholas, the man who inspired the image of Santa, was very real. i think the name "Santa Claus" came from a small child who was unable to pronounce St. Nicholas. of course, the image most of us are used to is based on a pagan image. a character known as the Holly King.

Yes he was once real. Not the way we know him but there was a man that use to give gifts to children. He didn't have elves or anything like that and I think he was St. Nicholas. I know this is true because Rudolph is the one that told me.

Santa is as real as you believe. I think the spirit of Christmas is slowly dieing. Not dead yet but Commercialism of Christmas is replacing the true spirit that was Santa.
