A gift is an expression of love. Tell him to see the the feeling behind the gift. He can buy whatever he wants.

If he said such lousy things you would be hurt. Next time ask him what gift he prefers and dump it on him or you may simply say "I love you" without a gift.

Just look at it his way. When you give something he needs you are telling him that he cannot buy it himself. Why dont you buy what he wants? Any issues with you?

I'd say he is insensative, and truly doesn't understand that gift giving is all about the thought. It is important to care about the giver's feelings, and if that means putting a smile on your face and saying thank you even though you don't like what they have given you, then that's exactly what you should do. It's called being grateful and kind. If your husband doesn't treat you with kindness and have concern for your feelings you may want to ask Santa to leave you a new husband under your tree this year.

I would be surprised that he would say something like that. Ruining holidays/birthdays? that sounds a little harsh. I would probably say "well, then I guess I wont get you anything if you dont appreciate whats given to you in the first place."

I'd say he's VERY ungrateful. He's thinking only about himself as well. Sorry, but Christmas is about giving, and he's only thinking about what he wants. My wife has gotten me presents that I didn't like, but I still said thank you anyways, because if I told her that I hated it, or got mad, it would make her feel like crap.

My suggestion, get him a gift card, that way he can just get what he wants for himself. That or don't give him anything, because it would teach him that he should be grateful to get anything at all.

Just tell him that you love him and happy holidays or happy birthday. He will definitely miss the gifts that he was getting. I know that has to hurt for him to come straight out and say that he does not like his gift. Just don't get him anything. Spend your money on something for yourself.

Tell him what he is saying is hurtful to you and that if he isn't happy with the gifts, could he tell you specifically - specifically - what it is he would like as a gift.

If that doesn't work, and he doesn't change, lose him. He sounds inconsiderate. Telling you that you are "ruining" his holidays and birthdays borders on verbal abuse.

Have a talk with him and tell him to quit being so selfish. Why would he get mad over a gift,I could see disappointed, but mad?Or just don't get him anything if he claims you ruin it.Sounds like he ruins it to me.

Make a copy of this page for him, with all your responses, wrap it up in a big red bow, and serve it up to him for a little holiday brunch...along with a nice new set of divorce papers with his name initialed on them in gold.

What a monster.
