I mean, we are the only species that has males w/ nipples (eg: male dogs don't have nipples, neither do cats, pigs, or any other male mammal). We don't really need them, so what gives?

The answer is that as embryos men and women have similar tissues and body parts. If anything the embryo follows a 'female template'. That is why nipples are present in both sexes. It is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about the changes and masculinises the embryo. Testosterone promotes the growth of the penis and testicles. Because nipples are there before this process begins the nipples stay!

Nipples and breast tissue have no function as such except for perhaps protecting the heart and lungs from injury.

Why Men Have Nipples

In men nipples are a vestigial organ, that is organ which are no longer useful, for eg, the muscles which once could move ur ear, it is no longer functional in humans. I also found this on one site

Why do male humans have nipples?
See also Male Nipples Prove Evolution?

This is answered in Bergman and Howe’s book ‘Vestigial Organs’ are Fully Functional (below right). Males have nipples because of the common embryological plan followed during early embryo development. Embryos start out producing features common to male and female—again an example of ‘design economy’. Nipples are a part of this design economy. However, as Bergman and Howe point out, the claim that they are useless is debatable.

What is the evolutionist’s explanation for male nipples? Did males evolve (devolve) from females? Or did ancestral males suckle the young? No evolutionist would propose this, so males nipples are not evidence for evolution or evidence against creation

We all, men and women, start the same. Hormones change us to one gender or the other. Men have nipples, but breasts don't grow. In women if the minor labia would fuse and grow outward with the clitoris at the end, it would be a penis. If the major labia descended and had testicles to hold, they'd be a scrotum.

Just in case you might think that men are the better of woman you should know that men have nipples because all humans are born women until a splash of testosterone turns them male once again showing the male writers of the bible got it all wrong, god created woman first.
