How old is your friend? If she is still living at home, it may not be her fault. Could be her parents just don't care. I would find out the situation first. Before you make her feel bad, you should maybe see how the family lives if you haven't already. On the other hand, if she is out on her own, I don't think it would hurt to mention. I would simply say, "Jane, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but some people have mentioned to me...your clothes smell offensive, and I think they might be right." I don't think a lilly white lie, making up "someone" else, is a bad thing if you are trying to spare her feelings. Another thing is, some people just have BO problems. They are hereditary. I am sure when you mention, she might talk about it. I've been in your shoes before, and I did not lose my friend over this frank conversation. Good luck!!

Whew this is a touchy subject and one that I am not too sure how to handle.
Telling someone they smell, whether friend or foe, is hard. Maybe what you can do is buy them some fragrance gift set for Christmas. And if her clothes smell, then is it due to how her home dwelling is?
Basically, this is a iffy subject. But if you are concerned, someone has to tell her.. and maybe you can say that others have been complaining and so you are talking to her as a friend.
Keep us posted...

She should be thankful more than anything that she was told this. I personally wouldnt want to be walking around not knowing I reak. Just talk to her alone and kindly tell her that she doesnt smell to great, and suggest some new body products she can use.

Take the person aside, and tell them nicely that they need to keep up on their hygiene. trust me, they might act mad at first, but eventually she will be grateful, its like being out all day with your friend and coming home to find snot on your face...you'd rather have them told you then a total stranger right? right. she will get over it, and will appreciate it in the long run.

I would just come right out and tell her...Hey...You stink!...and maybe she might get the hint......if you were really her friend, then approach her like one and let her know. wouln't you want someone to tell you if you like had a piece of toilet paper stuck to your shoe or if you have something in your teeth?...don't be mean about it when you say something or try to make her feel bad, but be honest....you are her friend, right?

the best thing to do would be to go to them as gentle and kindly as you know how and give them the truth.the whole truth.keep it real.don't sugar coat it b/c your message won't get as through to them as it should.they might be ashamed when you tell them but, it's better for it to come from a friend privately then to be humiliated publicly.they will appreciate it in the end.

There is no way to do it without them feeling like crap...just tell her she smells and that you can't stand it. That's probably why no one else is her friend cause you are theonly one that puts up with it. Either that or give her a bar of soap and deodorant for X-mas.

Be honest... If they have a problem let them know but make sure you offer a solution not just a compliant.
