Here's how a menstrual cycle usually works in terms of days. The first day of your period (when red blood appears) is cycle day 1 (CD1). My cycle usually lasts 5 days. One week after my period ends I get hornier than hell and my cervical mucous changes--it becomes more fertile. When you wipe with toilet paper and it seems slipperier than normal you are more than likely fertile. Keep in mind that healthy sperm can live up to 5 days after ejaculation into a woman's vagina/cervical area. So---say you have sex 5 days after your period---on day 10--the average female ovulates on day 14 (for me it's between day 14 and 16). If you are similar to the average female and you have unprotected sex anywhere from day 8 to day 17 you have about a 25% chance of getting pregnant (depending on your age/reproductive health.) If you are trying to get pregnant I would reccomend having sex every other day starting on day 8. If you are trying to avoid pregnancy use protection on those days.

I don't want to nag or tell you something you already know--but I feel I would be negligent in my response if I didn't at least warn you that If you are not in a monogamous relationship with someone you really trust avoid unprotected sex on all days of the month because STD's are no joke and they can even be deadly--not to mention that if you do want to get pregnant down the road some STDs can compromise your fertility.

To narrow down your own unique cycle (becasue every woman is different) I would suggest 3 things:

1.Use cycle tracking software like Ovusoft or the online service www.fertility friend.com and start taking your temperature with a basal thermometer upon waking. Either are handy because they make charts/graphs amongs other features.
2. Get some cheapy ovulation predictor kits at the dollar store or at Amazon.com and track your ovulation date for several months.
3. Read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. She outlines how to practice the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) commonly known as the rhthymn method--as well as how to use your cyclic information to achieve pregnancy. This is the low-tech answer to charting your fertility signs and it explains things like cervical mucuous, cervical position, how your cycle works, etc...

Good Luck and I hope you get what you want either way!

It is possible to get pregnant any day of the month. If you don't want children do not have unprotected sex at any time. Even with protected sex the possibilty of pregnancy is still there.

No, it is not safe to have sex 7 days after your last period. Ovulation is a tricky thing, and even those women who closely monitor their cycles (by taking their temperatures every morning to determine when ovulation occurs) don't get pregnant when they try to OR do get pregnant when they want to avoid it. If you are hoping to avoid getting pregnant, a reliable form of contraception is definitely what you need.

GYN says that it's the safest period for unprotected sex because in this time, a new ovule borns and shapes up.

ovulation though while normally regular can still vary from person to person and from month to month.
for me the first 2 wks are my most fertile-however I would NEVER advocate unprotected sex-there is more than just pregnancy to worry about.
HIV can kill you, many STD's effect your future fertility.
There are ovulation testes that can help a woman determine when she is fertile however if you are just trying to avoid pregnancy then USE BIRTH CONTROL.
Condoms and spermicide film work well when used together and also protects you from most STD's.
good luck

If you can get pregnant while your on your period (which I did...twice) the I don't see why you couldn't 7 days after. As long as your having sex you have a chance of getting pregnant.

Now everyone can cure infertility using this natural remedy http://pregnancyhelps.info
infertility can run in the family and one of the first things the doctor asks you when you go to a fertility clinic is your family history regarding cases of infertility or other reproductive issues.
If infertility is caused by genetic disorder then it's not unusual that one of the kids (your mom) doesn't have it and another does (your aunt).
two months of trying is still to early to be concerned about the fact that you might be infertile and it's also quite early to go to a fertility specialist. Go to a regular Obgyb to get a closer insight and see what ways there are are to improve your fertility rate.
Also remove alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes from your life because they might influence your chances too. Stress is also a risk factor when it comes to infertility.

You can only get pregnant during ovulation. Since that time varies, you should never have unprotected sex.

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating.
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant. Anyway this is a great methid to get pregnant fast https://tr.im/f87e9
