I never have felt so homesick as when I was in London and heard Simon and Garfunkel's "America" on the radio. I was 20 years old and it was the first time that I was away from home for more than a month, with no family or close friends with me.
I can't say that I've ever felt homesick after that... maybe because I have never traveled as far again or maybe because, as a grown up, my sense of "home" is different. My "home" is where I have moved and if I'm absent, I'm mature enough to know it's a temporary absence.
On the other hand, there's an interesting feeling that is similar to homesickness that I feel when I hear certain Celtic songs, more like a longing to return to the lands of my ancestors. Example, The Rowan Tree by Wilson and McKee (www.jigheads.com) conjures up sentimental images. I'm not associated wtih this duo, so I'm not like trying to spam people or push their albums, but they've got some songs that truly touch a chord in my soul.

Not so much home sick, I travel frequently and am very comfortable in many other countries.
I do get a lump in my throat though when I hear Peter Allen sing "I Still Call Australia Home"
"Leaving on a Jet Plane", "Take Me Home Country Road", (the Denver song someone else mentioned) are also songs that will spur on those feelings of loneliness for the home and hearth.
