It takes a silence.

I think for most, it takes time. Once you really get to know someone, the silence doesn't feel uncomfortable like it may have in the beginning.

Also, chemistry and trust. If you have lots of both with someone immediately (which is extremely rare), silences can be ok, even on a first date.

The first time I was with my guy, we had a few moments of comfortable silence. I didnt really think about it until he brought it up. It just didnt feel like either of us had to say anything...we could just enjoy sitting there. I think it takes really good chemistry and comfort with the person

Do you think you constantly have to go on and on when you're with some one? Shut up and enjoy the person quietly....endless talk is a sign of being nervous. Just think about the smell of her hair or the aroma of her perfume--the beautiful skin and anything else that is nice about her or him. Be cool---relax---just enjoy the company of the person. You wouldn't think of talking like an idiot during romance ---the best things are left unsaid. Don't forget to take a person to a nice quiet relaxing spot to sit and enjoy nature and the surroundings. That's really sexy. Sit and quietly look around at what nature has given the both of you. It's not a crime to snuggle and be quiet---a little tenderness---get the picture???

It happens naturally with people who are confident of themselves and who feel at ease with themselves in every and any kind of situation.

In a relationship, the same thing plus the level of acceptance for and closeness with each other.

It takes time together... Knowing that mutual peace between each other, quiet in a conversation that doesn't make you feel uneasy.
