LHS stands for Left Hand Side, while RHS stands for Right Hand Side.

It can also mean "right hand screw" as in the right hand screw rule, used when computing the cross product of vectors. For A X B = C, the direction of C is the direction that a RHS would move if A is rotated toward B.

Left hand side and Right hand side.

For example: 3 = 4x+1

LHS is "3", RHS is "4x+1".

I don't know why mathematicians get lazy about writing out "left hand side" but they do.
