I have an Epson stylus CX3200. There was a paper jam but when I removed the paper one of the springs that was a part of a plastic roller popped out. (There are three of these rollers inside the printer) My hand is too big to replace it. What kind of tools might be helpful? or what kind of technician could help? I don't want to spend a lot of money because the task seems simple...

I would suggest you send the printer in for servicing. The spring most probably determines the tensioning of the roller on the paper feeding function. If you forcily put it back the tension will be skewed and u may suffer from more paper jams in future or worse the printer may cease to function properly all together.

Man I hate working on inkjets. Typically there are disaseembly procedures for this, but without a service manual you'd have a big puzzle on your hands.

In some instances you can just slide a spring back on without having to disassemble part of the printer.

If the printer is worth less than $100, just get another one. Standard technician rates are between $60 and $100 per hour.

It really depends on the condition of what was holding the spring in place. If it was a delicate plastic hook which broke and set the spring free, you will probably be out of luck. Otherwise, most tasks of this nature require a pair of needle nosed pliers, a flashlight, and sometimes a magnifying glass. What can really drive you nuts if you can't see where it came from!

Printers are so cheap its would be a waste to hire someone just to fix a spring. Find a computer/electronic swavy teen in your family or neighbour , give em 5 bucks, maybe they can help. A lil flat head screwdriver might help, hard to say without actually seeing it.

Not sure how to fix, but consider that it may be cheaper to replace it than to fix it...

Try popping it back in.
