Go to start and click run. From there type cleanmgr. Select all options it gives you to delete. It may or may not take awhile pending on how much clutter is on your drive. Another step you might want to take is to right click your hard drive and view the properties. Select the check box the says compress drive to save disk space. When it prompts you, allow changes to subfolders and files as well. You can also access disk cleanup from here, but I mentioned a faster method by using the run command. I hope this helps resolve some of your disk problems.

The best place to start {and safest} is to open drive c and look at what is installed. Leave the windows folder alone, the rest are fair game. The program file usually has backups for many deleted programs. Google it if you don't know what is is.Then go to add and delete and prune your programs. Documents and pictures next, then backup and delete your pictures and documents you do not readily need. If you do not care for super speed, you can compress the drive and gain space. Good luck.

a lot of crap gets stuck on there for certain reasons. Try these 3 things.
1. Download CCleaner on download.com - a free program that is 5 star rated and gets rid of up to a gig of uneeded things.
2. Defragment your hard drive. Sorts the space for you.
3. Do some of your own work. Go to ADD/REMOVE programs and look for unwanted things. Then right click START and choose EXPLORE and look for files you don't need.
Hope this helps.

If you have downloaded a lot of files from the internet, then the temporary folders they go to can take up a lot of space. Here's what to do;
Go into start- control panel- performance and maitenance- free up space on your hard disk then follow the instructions.

Yeah, viruses don't take up 136 gbs of space. They usually take 4-500 kb. It is probably spam, temporary files, and programs. But there most likely are a handfull of trojans, viruses, and malware program on your computer also.

The simple way to free up space if you use Windows is to go to "Start" select "All Programs" then "Accessories" then "System Tools" then "DIsc Cleanup" and this will show you how much room you can free up. I suggest you also select "Compress old files" if it is not already checked.

Go to control panel and add\remove software and see what programs have actually been installed on the computer. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Temp and delete any debris from there, clear the internet cache and cookies.

Try going to www.download.com and search for "window washer".
once you have successfully installed this program. it will give you options such as what program files you would like to erase, such as temporary internet files,IE cache files, and so on. You can even set up for it to run a clean-up at a specifed time. hope this helps.
