A group of white, mostly middle-class well-off kids who find imperfections in there life and create a ridiculous, depressing melodrama around each one. They often take anti-depressants, even though the majority don't need them. They need to wake up and deal with life like everyone else instead of wallowing in their imaginary quagmire of torment.

Most of them are flat out attention seekers, and pathetic ones at that.

Then there are the ones so lacking an identity that they need to conform to some b.s. label, the entire time declaring their unique stance .. while being one of millions.

I have no patience for any of them, and nothing but laughter for their little attention ploy ... too insecure to be themselves, they pretend to be this mellow-dramatic character. It's incredibly sad in that ludicrous and moronic way.

Its just another silly stereotype that kids try to pull off... like the stereotypical 'punk' or 'goth' images. They think it makes them cool, and they want other people to feel sorry for them. It's "in" right now, I guess, so there you have it... posers, I guess? I don't doubt there are some people... or at least, WERE... who actually could be called 'real' emos... but now its just a fad that involves self-harm and lots of moping. People following the crowd because they don't know who they are, really... they might want to be 'different' or 'hardcore', but they want to conform to something they know is "cool" (or so they think) because that's safer than being one's self.

gaaaaah...

Emo's are high school kids who don't know how to spell out "emotional". Just another label they give themselves out of insecurity. I get annoyed by this word. I guess they don't think that anyone else but "emo's" have feelings....

You fairly well said it except for the part about glorifying self mutilation (cutters).
