I'm guessing that your daytime sleep is not long enough to go through an entire REM cycle, or possibly you don't sleep during the day often enough to wake up during a REM cycle.

There is a process of redistributing the blood in the body with every REM cycle during sleep, and if you awaken during a REM cycle, you may still have enough blood in your penis to notice it as erect. It has nothing to do with sexual arrousal. The dream can have no sexual content whatsoever.

two reasons. when you sleep for long periods, your body becomes very relaxed, allowing the capilaries to receive more blood flow. the second reason is a sort of defense mechanism. it's more difficult to wet the bed with an erection than without.
