My period was three weeks late, I went to the doctor yesterday and they gave me a pregnancy test which came back negative, I got my period two hours after I left the doctor's office.
I've had some minor cramps for the last week and a half but I dismissed them because my period wasn't coming. I also had extreem aversions to some foods, even thinking about them repulsed me.
Now I got my period and it's really heavy, I went through four tampons in 6 hours. It's also much more clotted then usual. Could I have been pregnant and had a spontanious abortion or would the pregnancy test have detected that?

I'm going to call my doc on Monday but I was just curious what I could find out now. Does anyone know about this?

Usually when you miscarry the pregnancy hormone stays in your system for a little while, so you were probably not pregnant. But I was really sick a week after my period was suppose to start and I kept getting really faint lines on my tests then I started bleeding so I think I had a sort of misconception. What I'm trying to say is stranger things have happened and sometimes all you can go on is what you feel in your heart happened. Hope that helps.

you might have been, there is such thing as a missed miscarriage. I've had ono, the baby dies in utero then breaks down completely and it looks like a regular period. Depending on how "far" along you were there would be more blood

It is possible you could have miscarried the child...sometimes the fetus can be so small you don't see it come out when you have that heavy of a period flow.
