Carried in the groceries about 2 hours ago. In the left hand. A lot of them. Ever since, I have a sharp pain in the back, when bending or turning to the right.

Any ideas what this is?

Sounds like you have torn your muscle on the left side, or severely stretched it.

Sharp pain *usually* indicates a tear, whereas dull pain usually means stretched/pulled.

When I slipped my disc, I actually felt the top part of my back go right and the bottom part of my back go left (I had jumped in a swimming pool and freakishly, it happened when I broke the water going in...I didn't hit anything like the bottom or the side of the pool).

When I got to the top of the water and tried to swim to the side, for about a minute, I had no use of my legs.

Then, when I did regain the use of them, I could not lift my feet more than 2 inches off the ground without EXCRUTIATING pain shooting from my lower back to the top of my head (ever want to feel what you think lightning would feel like shooting out your head???? UGH)

I was bed ridden for 3 days, and 7 years later, I still have a horribly wrenched back that still baffles my physician on wondering how I can walk without a pain killer.

If the pain doesn't go away or lessen in a day, or it's just unbearable, go to a minor emergency or call your physician.
