It's tough, especially when they have had their shots. SOme things to try:
*Try putting him in the car seat. He might fall asleep that way, it's very snuggly and comfortable.
* Lay him on his back on your lap and rub his tummy slowly. He might be a bit colicky.
* Remove all his clothes except the diaper and wrap him in a really soft, warm blanket. I don't know why this worked, but when our baby was inconsolable it helped.
* Check and make sure that there is nothing wrapped around his fingers or toes. Sometimes bits of thread or hair can get wrapped around those chubby little fingers. It's really painful.
* Did he get the shots in his butt? Try letting him sleep on his tummy (only with constant supervision!) When our guy got injections sometimes his butt was so sore he couldn't stand to be put down on his back. If you don't want to let him sleep like that, you could lay him on your chest (chest to chest, that is) and see if that doesn't help calm him down.
* I wouldn't try a bath, if he's really a newborn, mine HATED baths until he was about 2 months. Screamed his head off. Depends on whether he likes baths or not.
* Just hold him close and breathe deeply and slowly. (This will help you release some of your tension as well.) It might help him relax.

It happened to my baby too! This is what i have learned. The baby still feels sore where he got the shots and everytime you try to hold you are rubbing against it but at the same time he wants your attention and cuddling. So Just make sure that he doesn't have temperature and that he is diaper is not wet and also make sure he had something to eat. Besides these things, There isn't anything that you can do except empathising him with his pain but you can prevent this in the future.

Give the tempra about thirty mins before he gets his shots and then there will be no turning around. He will be perfectly normal. Pain medication after injection takes time to work but half an hour before does wonder. thats something i learnt from my family doctor. Hope it works

Whenever a small baby who cannot explain their distress are restlesss and crying for no apparent reason at all it needs 3 drops of the Homeopathic Remedy CHAMOMILLA in 30 potency in a sip of water. You will be surprised how well it works with babies. Works like a charm where restlessness and crying are concerned.
Read more about it by clicking the link below :- http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/c/cham.htm

You don't say what you fed him!! BUT if you breast feed stick to breast only, yes not even water, if you are formula feeding, stick to the one brand and do this for at least 3 months, better still 6 months YES not even water LOL!!!
Wind the baby every 5 to 10 minutes when feeding. Wionds are painful and no amount of analgesia will soothe the child, if all these tips fail and the child is fed, winded and clean, then I check for a temperature (ie hot flushed dry skin), if none exixts and the child is otherwise fine, I used to place the rocker with the child in it in an area where I could play clasical soothing music to my baby and gently rock the child. My son used to eventually fall to sleep he had colic from birth to 5 months of age it was a very trying time for my paranting, but perserverence paid off lol!!!

One of the things you must do, is to remain calm. A baby could tell if your tense. Burp him while singing him a lullaby, rock him while hummin softly. There are several things that you could do to help him calm down. If all else fails, bring him to the ER. He could be having a reaction to the shots that he got.

I saw this on tv one day about the secret baby language...see if you can distinguish his cries like this...
1) Neh means they are hungry
2) Owh means the are sleepy
3) Heh means they are in discomfort
4) Eair means they have lower gas (change the diaper)
5) Eh means they need to be burped
I hope this works for you...the woman who discovered this language has a DVD its called Dunston Baby language...i highly recommend you buy it for future reference.
Good luck!

If you have done all of that and kisses and cuddles are not helping the only thing you can do is leave him to cry it out. Poor thing! Put him in his crib, turn the light off, make sure it is quiet and let him go. Sometimes you can't help, and it sucks because as a parent you want to make it all better, but sometimes you can't. He will stop crying and fall asleep before too long. It will be much harder on you than him though.
Good luck, HTH

He overly tired. Relaxing, and falling asleep does not come naturally to some babies. You must do it for him, until he figures it out. Drive him around in the car, or walk the floor.

Alot of babies will cry due to film or build up in their mouth from milk. Try giving him very small amount of water to help flush it out.

I suggest a car ride...Sometime the baby is just very cranky...everytime we take our baby out for a car ride he stops crying and just falls asleep. Just try it, i'm sure it will work.
