It all depends on what you play. A cash game goes on as long as there is players and as long as you have money. If you are talking about tournament play then depending on the starting chips, how fast the blinds go up and the number of players in the event it could take anywhere from hours to days. Most Vegas tournaments go around 3-5 hours, depending.

If your throwing a party, your best bet is to set a time when the game will be done...maybe like 3-4 hours from when you start. Then the chip leader at that time or sooner if they are the only one left is the winnner. Thats how I do my party's!!! hope this helped

Tourneys can last many hours. The more players there are the longer it will take to eliminate them.
Cash games, you can play for as little or as long as you like.

It's endless but when people are trying to finish they raise the bets every hour or every half hour depending on how fast you want to finish the game.
