i think its because being in love is the most wonderfull feeling. you care so much about that one person, you would do so much for them. when i am in love that person is all i can think about, and is the reason to get out of bed in the morning. i think because we sometimes make people such a big part of our lives, by thinking about them spending time with them, trying to make them happy. and when we lose all that, our life has to completely change. its like losing a very close relative, and you just feel ike you have a big hole in your life

When youre heart is broken its because you have been hurt and I think this is the greatest emotion there is. You feel a sense of loss, betrayal and you know in youre heart that this person didn't love you or they would not have done this. So what you say is true and I guess is all emotions that are involved in this.

The main reason why broken hearts heal so long is the degree of acceptance. This is your medicine. If you understand a lot of things and accepts them with an open mind then, healing can be quick.
If you refuse to take your medicine like you keep holding on to your past and staying there and refusing to move on then healing would be difficult.
Try to be smarter and intelligent so you would not even get hurt.

In my case I think it's the emptiness. Perhaps I feel a bit betrayed too. I have someone else. My husband. But he's not who I want. He ruined his chances years ago. I will never be able to have who I want. So I can't answer your question yet. I don't think my heart will ever heal.

there are 5 stages to healing grief ( breaking up causes grief) and you must grieve, thats all, while this was originally applied to the loss by death of a loved one these stages have come to be accepted as the norm for all sort of grief filled losses including losing a relationship to a break up
Denial - The "This can't be real" stage.: "This is not happening to me. There must be a mistake."
Anger - The "Why me?" stage.: "How dare you do this to me?!" (either referring to God, the deceased, or onesself)
Bargaining - The "If I do this, you’ll do that" stage.: "Just let me live to see my son graduate."
Depression - The "Defeated" stage.: "I can't bear to face going through this, putting my family through this."
Acceptance - The "This is going to happen" stage.: "I'm ready, I don't want to struggle anymore."

For me it's the feeling that if I love again I'll just get hurt again. The fear of rejection keeps us from moving on right away. Some of us have A LOWER PAIN THRESHOLD AND NEED LONGER TIME TO HEAL BEFORE CHANCING THE PAIN ONCE MORE.

Love is the only power that will destroy your heart and soul. For example the loss of someone you love or the break up. But dont worry it is the price of life. Yes it will heal, but it takes time.

you pretty much answered it your self.apart from this huge ego we have,it hurts us because we have a lot of pride we stick into our relationships.when some one steps on your heart it takes a while to recoup.now depending on how big your ego is will it determine how long it is going to take to recover!

'tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. did your mother ever quote that to you? well... i think the more we love the more valnerable we become HENCE the more the bad ending hurts later.
the important thing to know is the pain will lessen with time... and MAYBE a little help from some thoughtless dating (dating that means nothing) will help??

It can take about 2 years to start coming right. It is like being gutted. Just shows you are person that feels, which is good. Start worrying when you don't give a crap anymore.
