I have polycystic ovaries. I did take Clomid to get pregnant but the first dose didn't work. My GYN increased the dose and it worked! I have never taken glucophage. After we had the first baby I didn't think I had to be careful because I had to take the Clomid before. Well lo and behold one year and five days after son # 1, here comes son # 2. Be careful.

I too have polysystic ovarian syndrome, and had a heck of a time getting pregnant. My doc prescribed clomid for me, but I got pregnant before I could take it. After months of trying someone recommended a specific ovulation test... The first time I used it I got pregnant with my daughter...

I am now pregnant again with my second, and this time I got pregnant first try!

Good luck!

glucophage is a treatment for polysystic ovarian sydrome. it helps keep the blood sugar lower, Try a reduced carb diet also. My friend got pregnant when she tried both of these and never had to use clomid. She has the same problem and was told it would be very difficult for her to have a child. good luck

I actually got pregnant on my first round of Clomid, but ended up miscarrying (don't get scared, it was not due to PCOS). I did another round and my doc didn't think I'd ovulated, so she upped my dose for round 3. I went in for my day 12 ultrasound (to check follicle growth) and she didn't see anything TOO promising, but instead of writing it off, she had me come in 2 days later and sure enough, there was one ready to go. Heh, turns out there was more than 1, 'cause now I have a beautiful baby girl AND a handsome baby boy!

I hope your doctor is good enough to do ultrasounds to monitor your fertility treatments, 'cause that's really the only way they can SEE what's going on!

Best of luck to you, and don't give up hope completely just 'cause it didn't happen on the first try!

OH, and when you DO get pregnant, KEEP TAKING YOUR GLUCOPHAGE! Taking Glucophage while pregnant reduces your chances of getting gestational diabetes as well as reduces your chance of miscarriage in your first trimester!!

I took clomid for over a year and a half (3x the average dose according to my fertility doc). I was also on a 1000mL HCH injection for the last 12 months. I am still not pregnant, however, all the fertility drugs have caused me to gain about 40 pounds in the last year despite all my exercise. Be careful, and good luck!

I wouldn't expect to get pregnant on your first dose of Clomid. Give it some time.
