You will need the CD. If you own a legitimate license you may contact Microsoft for a replacement CD.

If you have an HP computer, those are usually sold without the XP cd.
But, its ok, because HP hides it in the hard drive. They on purpose partition part of your hard drive and thats where its at.
This comes in handy as in your case no cd.
So, you'd have to restart you computer and immediatly hit the F10 key and go from there.

what windows xp is this is it a oem version if so when you restart your pc do you see on screen hay of the (F) 10 key to hit to do reinstall like recovery . if so then use that way if you dont ur need a windows xp .cd. do u have any system restore cds to send da. pc back to manufacturers recovery

There is a slight chance your manufacturer may have shipped your PC with a "recovery partition" which will allow you to reinstall without a CD, but without knowing more, i can;t answer this Q further.
