No... unless your just want to restore your OS to an earlier date. You can do that without the disc.

Yes.

Via a network installation or with disk imaging. However, I don't believe either is a practical solution in your case.

You will need the CD. If you own a legitimate license you may contact Microsoft for a replacement CD.

in case you have the unique disc, you place the CD interior the rigidity and easily reboot. Watch heavily through fact the gadget reboots from the initiating. you ought to get a message on the demonstrate screen whilst it first boots saying something like "Press any key besides from CD" which you will do of direction. From right here, you walk in the process the setup wizard to reformat the rigidity and reinstall residing house windows. do no longer forget approximately to any save any substantial data from you laptop befor eyou try this through fact certainly each and every thing you notice at present would be long gone. in basic terms a number of your working gadget would be there whilst the reinstall completes. No information, no newly put in classes. basically an FYI.....

If you have an HP computer, those are usually sold without the XP cd.
But, its ok, because HP hides it in the hard drive. They on purpose partition part of your hard drive and thats where its at.
This comes in handy as in your case no cd.
So, you'd have to restart you computer and immediatly hit the F10 key and go from there.

There is a slight chance your manufacturer may have shipped your PC with a "recovery partition" which will allow you to reinstall without a CD, but without knowing more, i can;t answer this Q further.
