Here's the skinny... Yes it does look like HD-DVD is heading out the door. That's not me Sony supporting, it's just a reality. It's reaching a point where HD-DVD is falling out of the distinction of being serious competition. If you already have HD-DVDs and player.. that certainly doesn't mean you need to throw them away. What it does mean is you'll eventually not be able to get new HD-DVDs and you'll need to look into a Blu-Ray (or dual) player or stick with DVD. How will this effect the DVD market? DVD is still a long bit away from going bye bye. Not enough of the population has High Definition TV sets and even some that do don''t care that much and think their DVDs still look pretty good. Remember, it took awhile for DVD to completely supplant VHS and remove it from the picture... and DVD didn't have any real competition from another format. What MAY also happen... is I was reading they're trying to develop technology that will successfully write DVD information to the same data side of a Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD) disc as the HD content and be readable on a normal DVD player. If they can actually perfect something like that, then DVD might go away a bit faster and everything will come out on Blu-Ray discs that you can also play on your regular DVD player. The catch with that is they'll still not be as cheap as DVDs so consumers will just shrug and buy a Blu-Ray player so they're at least getting there moneys worth. How will this effect the price of HD sets? Eh.. probably not that much... perhaps no more then the prices would of gone down naturally if the format war was still going down. If anything, the fact that more people will finally decide to get a Blu-Ray player thus allowing more people to discover true high definition. This may increase the sales of High Definition television sets and if corporate america doesn't have to drop the price of something for you to buy it, they won't ;) Also though.. there are 1080p sets a little cheaper then 2grand and even with a 720p set you'll be able to experience the quality gain over DVD. There are also Blu-Ray titles that you can get cheaper then $35 dollars... some are as low as $15. This is basically the kind of prices we used to and actually sometimes still do see for DVDs... so really Blu-Ray discs aren't THAT much more expensive.. at least not all of them. PLus, you can expect Blu-Ray discs and HDTVs will naturally have a gradual reduction in their prices as time marches on.

The Wicker Man was a very good movie, although it lacked...something....I would get Lady in the Water, came out the same day as Wicker Man. I'm not a huge Uma Thurman fan so I wouldn't get My Super Ex Girlfriend, it looks cheesy. Lady in the Water has a great plot, a story line...*if you watch it, you'll understand the different between the plot and the story line* and it has great characters. Plus if you watch it at night with all the lights turned out, you get a quick scare every now and then. Happy Hunting and Merry Christmas.

If you enjoy watching Nic Cage be chased by bees or fight in a bear suit, get Wicker Man. If, however, you enjoy good cinema, get Little Miss Sunshine or Scanner Darkly. Both are great films. If those aren't mainstream enough, I'd go with V for Vendetta.

I love the new Pirates of the Carribean movie (but keep in mind you MUST see the next one if you buy this one)..

I think I might have to get Jackass 2 as well, but that all depends on what you find funny! :)

Get Fearless !! I think it just came out on DVD. Jet Li's best and I would say one of the top 10 best of the year. Great theme !

"The Descent". I believe on December 26th. Great suspense/horror flick done with a classic flair (I think). Had me really in suspense, and few movies can pull that off anymore.
