HELP! I am trying to save a video that I have worked on for like 4 months now onto a CD. This is a Windows Movie Maker project. When I tell the program to save to CD, it tells me that my E drive is not accessable. I have tried sending this directly from the program to the CD, and also have tried saving to my computer and sending it from there to the CD. I get the same error message both ways. I know my burner works because I use it to burn music CD's all the time. It is very important to me that I get this disk burned because it is baby pics of my kids and it's going to be a Christmas gift for their Grandparents. Please help me if you can, I have worked really hard on this project for a very long time. I will be devastated if I cant get this done before Christmas. Any advice will be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to everyone!

There are many possible problems or over sites on your part.

I will try to start to help but you will need to answer some questions.

First I am going to assume that E in an internal CDRW drive.

Have you ever written to this drive before with this software with this computer.

Are you trying to use a DVD-r+r in a drive that does not handle this type of media?

What format are burning into?

Do you have a compiled .avi file that appears to have all of the completed project/movie in it?

If you answer or IM me soon I can and will help.

From what you have said so far, it sounds like the equipment/hardware is not the problem.
It sounds like it is a software problem, but to make sure, you should try burning another music CD first and verify that it didn't fail since the last time you used it.
Another thing to consider, are the media files that you have created too big to burn to a CD?
If you are making movies with the movie maker, they are probably too big for a CD.
If the Drive is a CD drive and doesn't support DVDs then make sure you set up the application to write a VCD or S-VCD as these are CD formats. Also, make sure the CD Media is fine, not already used. Try another disc and see if this solves the problem.
Good Luck, I hope one of the answers you get here (not just from me) helps you out.

first of all the burning program that you are using is important. some programs have extreme difficulty reading certain types of files. also i'm assuming your ust trying to burn a data disk cause if you r trying to burn like a vcd or dvd or svcd then your software might not support that type of media file. if thats the case you might try convewrting the file type using the appropriate converter like convert to .avi using win avi converter (v6.3 is the best by the way) or if you are using nero which if you are not then i highly suggest getting it then you might need the video plug ins which will convert it for you. you might also try if you are using software capable of burning disc images, nero is and burn the cd to an image file then burn the image file. that would tell you where the problem is, if it wont burn to image then its the files themselves causing the problem. i hope some of this helps its fairly difficult to give you exact advise not knowing more information so if you dont figure it out try posting more info and asking again. stuff like what type of disj your burning data vcd so on also the software your using to do so.

when one program works and another doesn't,
I'd suggest its the aspi layer.

Its a small universal program that talks between windows, and your burner.
some programs have it built it, some require a universal aspi to be installed.
( this is assuming you are not trying to use the wrong type of disk in your burner, ie a dvd when you only have a cd burner)

check the website of the burner for more info on this matter.

considering you using the win movie maker application, it makes movies, and it maybe configured to create dvds only, have you checked to see if you have a dvd writer, also if this video is for a dvd player and you only have a cd burner you can still format the cd as a VCD which can be played on DVD players just in a little lower quality

Have you tried opening the Drive from 'my computer' and then dragging the file to your CD Drive folder Instead of using the
'send to' command

Seriously, you don't need to take advice from a place like this, you need to take it in to a professionsal computer shop and have them try to recover the information from your hard drive. Most of the tips you'll get here will just cause further problems and for the project you outlined I would think you'd rather have everything back and be out a little cash and have everything back. If you can't go to a shop try tech support or GeekSquad

Sounds like your driver might be out of date or incompatable. Try downloading a new driver.
