I just hate it when people say "When I get married" as to think there is just someone waiting out there for them to find them. Why do so many people just assumed that there is a group of people out there just waiting for someone to fall into their arms. Makes me realize why divorce is so high. Maybe people who just start saying "When I get divorced."

Maybe if people stock hunting for someone and assume they will get married, that will take the pressure off of people and ultimately they may just end up finding someone they really love than just someone that's convenient to marry.

Because a lot of people feel that marriage is the next thing to do in their life...not that they love the person and want to spend the rest of their life with them...also too many people can not commit to one person_

i guess it's assumed because it's a choice thing people decided they want to get married for a ton of good and bad reasons. Anyone over 18 can do it. takes nothing special, so i guess people assume at some point they will marry. Yeah there are people just waiting on someone to love look at all the single bars and dating sites it's pretty clear most people are looking for a significant other to share life with it's not a forgin concept to not want to be alone in life. most people jump the gun say i do way to soon.

Marriage is assumed because it is the traditional bonding of a commit ed couple. It has it's roots in the need for the species to survive. On the basic level,it is a human mating ritual. The next logical progression is to procreation. That's why marriage between a man and a woman is so important,Without it the human race cannot survive.

When someone says, "when I get married," they are indicating that is a goal for their life. Compared to "if I get married," it suggests that they are so committed to the idea that they will find it somehow through extraordinary searching or lowering of standards.
There are plenty of people who either aren't sure if they will marry, or don't want to get married. Just think of all the single people you know who DON'T say "when I get married."
And then remember too that a lot of us can't legally marry, very similar to the miscegenation laws that forbade blacks and whites from marrying until only 40 years ago.

People have the selfish motives toward marriage and that's why they fail at it. When I get married, I'm going to do this. It's too many I's and not enough vision. What we should do is think what can our marriage accomplish, how do we do this? How are we going to create a marriage that's like Heaven on Earth

I think that people say that because they don't want to be alone, and the hope of marriage is like a shield against the looming loneliness.
Besides, most marriages don't work out because the people involved are too selfish and stubborn to cooperate.

I agree with you....that is one reason why there are so many people getting divorced.
Marriage isn't something that you have to do at a certain point in your life....or because you're a certain age.
It isn't even something you have to do when you've been dating for awhile.
Keep that attitude and if you ever do decide to marry it will last forever.

People who say 'when I get married' are scared to death of being alone, dying alone, and having no one to love them.
