Obviously, at some point in an interview, you should ask what kind of salary/hourly wage you will be making in this job. But when is the appropriate time to do so? Asking too early may make you seem greedy or overanxious, while asking too late might mean the person has already offered you the job and you then say "oh wait, how much am I going to get paid?".
Also, how do multiple interviews play into this? Some companies may have three or even four interviews with you before you are hired, which interveiw would you ask about salary?

Well I used to interview people before and when they asked questions about salary during an interview, i would put there resume at the bottom of the list, some even in the trash. If they were good candidates and got the second interview i would advise them about mentioning income but after they are told they got the job. So The appropriate time to do this is when you are100% positive you have the job.

Always prepare questions to ask. Having no questions prepared sends the message that you have no independent thought process. Some of your questions may be answered during the course of the interview, before you are offered the opportunity to ask. If so, you can simply state something to the effect that you were interested in knowing about ..., but that was addressed during the interview. You could ask for additional clarification if applicable. Do not ask questions that are clearly answered on the employer's web site and/or in any literature provided by the employer to you in advance. This would simply reveal that you did not prepare for the interview and you are wasting the employer's time by asking these questions. Never ask about salary and benefits issues until those subjects are raised by the employer.

I would not ask about salary during an interview unless there was a broad opening to do it./ You can easily find the salary schedule for most schools.

A good rule of thumb would be during your second interview.
Or it totally depends on the hiring process. If you have multiple interviews I would say ask what the next step of the process would be and then ask then.
For example, If you have already been on 3 interviews and the 4th interview would be with the Sr. Manager of the company and he or should would be making the hiring decision. Then ask during this interview.
Hope this helps....
God Bless....

You really have to have a good feel as to how they'll react. Don't ask it at all in the begining of the interview, always ask close to the end and only if you feel that it won't hurt your chances. Some employers won't hire you if they think you're only after a great paycheck, cause you'd leave them in a minute for a better one. They have to think that you're asking more as an after thought than as asking to make a decision of whether you want to work for them or not.

I dont think you should ask about salary and you surely would have an idea before the interview, but if you feel you should, I would say later in the interview.

Wait until offered the job.
Alternately, they may ask for your salary expectations. Try not to answer them directly, but if pressed, give them a ballpark rage and then ask what the job pays.

By the second interview it is acceptable to ask what the salary is if they haven't already asked you what your salary requirement is.

dont ask about the salary...it's a huge turnoff.
Wait until after the trial because that's when they have committed to you, and if you are that good. You can name your price!
